Hello Family and Friends! We have just moved into our home, on the sixth floor of a tower on the Yokosuka Naval Base. It has three bedrooms, two baths, a large living/dining room, kitchen, and laundry. There is lots of closet space and extra storage room. At first it looked like a hospital room- with white walls and white linoleum. But we are slowly making our own. We have loaner furniture and have purchased our own rugs. Our household goods aren't expected for another 2-5 weeks, so we will just live out of our suitcases and sleep on the floor-just like camping! We have cable for our internet and our TV, we also have a phone. Incredible how we take these basic things for granted in the States. Oh, we forgot to mention the view...We overlook Tokyo Bay and yes, Tyler's favorite building in the whole world, the Regional Firestation. Just yesterday, he got to sit in the driver's seat of the big rig.
Now, about Japan, we got our driver's licenses and are learning how to drive on the left side of the road. What an experience- do not try this at home boys and girls! We took a train ride to Kamakura to see the great Budda- and guess what it was hollow! (The trains, by the way, are clean and effecient. During rush hour they actually have men push passengers in to fill up the train. ) The best part was eating sweet potato icecream with our new friends. We have eaten sushi a number of times and love finding new places to visit. We expect to get out more now that we are settled!!
